How We Started Bringing Advanced Technology to the Des Moines Metro
Launched first in 1998 as pcXperts, a sole-proprietorship that tackled only basic computer problems, virus removal, and troubleshooting. Over the years the business expanded into hardwired and wifi network setup. After some years of working for low voltage electrical company Innovative Home Technology in Seattle, more skills were gathered and in 2011 pcXperts was rebranded and relaunched as Computer Connection INC. with a retail store offering many parts and supplies, and a full range of I.T. and smart automation services.
Over the next decade Computer Connection grew into a robust company providing services all across the Puget Sound area. In 2017 a Charitable division of the company was launched in an effort to aid people with severe mobility issues by the use of voice command automation technology. People living with quadriplegia could be eligible for a completely free system that controls the lights, a fan, music, camera system, and the TV in their room. In 2021/2022 Computer Connection INC found its way to Des Moines, Iowa as owner and president David Joiner moved to the Des Moines metro area after marrying the love of his life.

When I was 16 years old I heard that Washington National Golf Course next to my parent’s house would be the next host of the well known Seattle Street of Dreams project. It’s a project where all of the latest tech gadgets are installed into the most luxurious homes in the area. I walked up to one of the houses while it was under construction and asked who or what company is installing all the tech stuff. The guy I asked happened to be the owner of the company doing that exact work. I asked if I could work for him, and that is what started this path. I worked for Innovative Home Technology one on one with the owner Brian for several years, acquiring the necessary skills to ultimately launch my own company. A company that would offer not only smart automation systems, but also a full range of I.T. services as well.
The charitable division came as the result of a customer calling to have Computer Connection install a system for another customer, a customer who was confined to her bed with only her voice to control her environment. I immediately saw potential for doing good and began the process of starting a 501c3 charitable organization to find more people in such need. Fast forward to 2021 and I am welcomed to Iowa by my amazing now wife. over 100 flights in 2 years and Computer Connection in Seattle is closed and Des Moines Technologies in Iowa begins.
